Dr. Sam Salmassi, board-certified psychiatrist

Meet Dr. Sam Salmassi

I am a board-certified psychiatrist committed to providing thoughtful, individualized care that considers the whole person, not just their symptoms.

I completed my psychiatry residency at Georgetown University, where I served as Chief Resident, and subsequently worked as a Staff Psychiatrist at the Department of Veterans Affairs, caring for veterans with a wide range of complex mental health concerns.

My approach combines evidence-based psychiatric treatment with careful listening and collaborative treatment planning. I consider the broader factors that influence mental health, including sleep, nutrition, exercise, stress, relationships, and substance use, alongside each person's psychological and medical history. My goal is to develop a treatment plan that reflects each individual's needs, circumstances, and goals.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma-related symptoms, burnout, and attention difficulties. Depending on each person's needs, treatment may involve medication management, psychotherapy-informed interventions, and behavioral or lifestyle changes.

I provide telepsychiatry for adults aged 18 and older located in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
